Technical SEO

We always start with a Technical SEO audit.

You don’t want to make it hard for search engines to crawl and understand your site.

This brand had no major issues, but we fixed a few things:

  • Orphan pages
  • Duplicate pages
  • Missing alt text & meta descriptions

They repeated the same words everywhere, thinking it would help SEO:

  • Men’s X
  • Men’s Y
  • Men’s Z

Instead, we simplified:

Men’s

  • Z

Women’s

  • Y
  • Z

Don’t worry—the search engine will understand just fine.

Homepage

They featured their best-selling products at the top.

But these products had no search volume…

Their product categories, on the other hand, had significant search volume.

So we moved those category pages (with the highest search volume) to the top of the homepage.

And moved the best-selling products below.

This way, the homepage’s strong link equity goes to pages that actually get searched.

Collection Pages

Collection pages drive revenue, so we focused on them first.

We built more collections.

We optimized existing ones.

And added relevant internal links.

This boosted relevance and authority in the eyes of the search engine.

Supporting Blog Content

We published 2 blog posts per week.

Each one was crafted to support the collection pages through:

  • Topical authority: Showing Google they’re experts in the niche.
  • Internal linking: Boosting SEO by passing link juice from the blog posts to the shopping pages.

Backlinks

Lastly, we focused on building powerful backlinks.

We mostly built link insertions on pages that already had traffic.

These have been working really well for us.

One of these links to a key collection page shot it to #1 for its main keyword.
